William Nelson

William H. "Willie" Nelson, age 92 of Watertown passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Golden Living. He was born on December 6, 1922 in Fort Atkinson, the son of Ray and Margaret (Chamberlain) Nelson. Willie was a WWII Veteran, serving in the 8th Air Force in England. He married Gloria Polensky on August 21, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Watertown. They were able to share 62 years together before her death in 2010. Willie was employed by American Airlines in Chicago for 30 years in the maintenance department.  After his retirement from the airline, he farmed in the Lebanon area for several years prior to retiring to Watertown.  He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Watertown Senior and Community Center. He and Gloria loved to travel, golf and play cards with friends. They also spent many years as snowbirds in Texas. He is survived by his children, Steven (Kathy) of Downers Grove, IL, Brian (Mary) of Buena Park, CA, Jeffrey of Madison and Mark (Amy) of Watertown; four grandchildren, Courtney Tilson, Michael Nelson, Zachary Nelson and Elijah Nelson.  He is also survived by a great-grandson, Jackson Tilson, a sister, Mary Culbertson of Lynchburg, VA, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria and brother, Robert.  A funeral service will be held at First Congregation United Church of Christ on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Welch presiding. A visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Willie will be laid to rest next to his wife at Glenview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Ixonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Asera Care Hospice or First Congregational United Church of Christ.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at both Golden Living and Asera Care Hospice for their loving care and concern.
