Susan Rule, age 87, a lifelong resident of Watertown, passed away Saturday, November 11, in Madison Wisconsin. Susan was born on May 3, 1930 to parents John and Marie Salick. Her great-grandfather Joseph Salick opened Salick's Jewelry store on main street in 1853 in Watertown. There Susan enjoyed the many hours sitting at the bench with her father learning about watch and jewelry repair. After graduating from Watertown High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh where she met William Rule. They married on February, 25, 1952 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. Together they had 4 children. Sue taught her children the importance of reading and loved reading time together at the Watertown Public Library. Susan found pleasure in singing in the choir at both St. Bernard and St. Henry's Catholic Churches, growing flowers and card club. Sue was a volunteer of the Watertown Hospital Auxiliary, a Friend of the Watertown Library and a member of Saturday Club. Her favorite thing was learning the history of Watertown. She was very proud of our city. Sue will be missed by her devoted daughters; Carol and Ellen Rule and Joan (Pat) Christoph. She is also survived by sisters Margaret (Sam) Luchsinger, Elizabeth Whitmore and brother John Salick along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, William, son William Rule, Jr. a brother-in-law, Sam Luchsinger and parents. A funeral visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown between 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown, with some monies specified for future Masses for her.
