On August 13, 2024, at the age of 98, Jesus took the hand of Robert (Bob) Jacob and walked him to his new home in heaven. Bob was born on May 6, 1926, to Paul and Helen Jacob in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Bob took over the family farm after graduation from Neillsville High School in 1944. On August 6, 1947 he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Hubing. He often quipped, “I had to wait until she graduated from high school.” Before Charlotte’s passing in 2023, they celebrated 75 years of marriage.
In 1965 they moved to Ellsworth, Wisconsin, where Bob worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service. In 1974 Bob’s job took them to Port Edwards, WI. After Bob retired, he and Charlotte enjoyed partnering with Builders for Christ, a group of men and women serving Jesus in the mission of church construction. Bob also became an accomplished cabinetmaker in retirement. He spent many happy hours building hutches, bedroom sets, and a plethora of small items such as coffee tables, end tables, and toys.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Luann Hoffman of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter Charlene (John) Flint of Watertown; Granddaughters Jennifer Prowitz and Stephanie (David) LaCasse. He is further survived by great grandchildren Olivia and Hattie Prowitz, David II, Lucas, and Samuel LaCasse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Charlotte, and brother-in-law William Hoffman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 Clark Street, Watertown, WI, with Rev. Tim Redfield and Rev. Anthony Schultz presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service at the church. Bob will be laid to rest at Neillsville Cemetery in a private family service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name to Builders for Christ, N19W24075 Riverwood Drive, Suite 200 Waukesha, WI 53188, would be appreciated by the family. [Builders for Christ is a part of Kingdom Workers.]
