Marshall, WI/Ocala, FL - Robert Bruce Hurst, age 84 passed away on May 13, 2016 at the Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL. Robert was born on July 3, 1931 in Chicago, IL the son of Robert James Hurst and Bernice Beula Webber. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years as an executive chef in Chicago and he managed the McHenry Country Club for many years before owning his own restaurant, The Anchor House in Spring Grove, IL. In 1974 Robert moved to Marshall. He continued to share and teach his love for cooking as a teacher at MATC in the culinary arts program while he concurrently earned his teaching degree from the UW Madison. Robert enjoyed cooking, spending time fishing. He is survived by his five children, Ronald Hurst, Catherine (Joe) Kuna, Steven Hurst, Heather (Tom) Myers and Shawn (Sue) Casey; 15 grandchildren, Tiffany Carbonell, April Piana, Ryan Hurst, Lindsay Hurst, Valerie Kuna, Matthew Kuna, Colton Wright, Carsen Wright, Skyler Myers, Sawyer Myers, Cariana Casey, Christopher Casey, Jeffrey Chapman, Whitney Chapman and Shelby Hommen; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Hurst; a sister, Barbara Hagglund and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Debra Hurst. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 Madison Street, Marshall on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 12:00 PM. A visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pastor Paul Anderson will officiate. Burial will conclude at York Township Cemetery.
