Raymond Valdez

Raymond Valdez, age 87 of Watertown, passed away peacefully at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, with his loving family at his side. Raymond was born on April 20, 1931, in Chicago, Il, to Antonio and Delores Valdez. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 20 and proudly served his country for 2 years. On June 18, 1955, he married the love of his life, Lydia A. Ramos at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Chicago. Together they were blessed with 3 children. Raymond worked for GE Medical Systems in Chicago and transferred to the Pewaukee plant in 1974. He retired from GE in 1996 after 40 years of service. Ray loved spending time tinkering around his home, spending time with his grandchildren, and" his "Boppy Days" with his great grandchildren. Ray is survived by his 3 loving children; Raymond Jr., (Tracy Ramsey,) Valerie (Mark) Frye and Antoinette (Jeff) Carruthers, grandchildren; Krysten (Paul Pavlekovich) Frye, Ray (Victoria) Valdez, Abbigail (Brett) Kuehn, Paige and Quinton Thomas, great grandchildren; Brittaya and Brielle Pavlekovich, Noah Valdez, and a great granddaughter due in January. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters and dear friend Trevor Messerschmidt, as well as many other relative and friends. Raymond is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lydia, parents, 2 brothers; Gerald and Tony Valdez and a sister, Josephine Suarez. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 9, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. A visitation will also be held at church on Friday, November 9, at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Remembrances and condolences my be sent at www.watertownwifuneralhome.com.
