Newt and Lucille settled in Watertown in 1953 where he operated his own sod company and then worked for Midland LP Gas Company, retiring in 1986. After retiring, He and Lucille enjoyed many family trips and camping outings. They made their two-three yearly trips to Branson, Missouri and visited the apple orchards of Wisconsin in spring and fall with fellow family members. Newt's two most enjoyable activities were family outings and/or trips with his large extended family members, and his spring and fall fishing trips with his brothers.
