Meredith C. Thomson (Tom) of Watertown passed away on February 21, 2017 at Rainbow Hospice. Meredith was born in Stoughton, WI November 15, 1921 to Dewey and Emma (Hansen) Thomson. He grew up in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School.Meredith joined the army in October 1942 and was discharged in January of 1946. He served in Europe with the 563rd Field Artillery Battalion of the 89th division as an NCO in field artillery recon. He also received the bronze star medal along with others. After being discharged, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin -Madison. On June 29, 1946 he married Margaret Juliet Guthaug. He graduated in June 1953 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Meredith specialized in designing dairy equipment and dairy process systems. He worked for Kusel Dairy Equipment and Stoelting Brothers as a consultant. He is survived by his wife, children Stephen, Gregory (Cindy), David; Grandchildren Tiffany (Jim Joling) Brittany, Kayleen; Great-Grandchildren Lucas, Logan, Kalvin and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and daughter-in-law Mee Yang. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 4 at 2 PM at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown with Pastor Todd Iverson officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the time of services.
