Maurice H. Rogers, age 83, of Marshall, passed away at Deerfield Place in Deerfield, Wisconsin, on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Maurice was born April 21, 1934 in Sparta, Wisconsin, to Bernard Z. and Alice J. Rogers. He graduated from LaCrosse Central High School in 1953 and entered the U.S. Army in 1956 to 1958, serving in Japan. On May 23, 1959, he married Kathryn Jacobson at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Black River Falls, WI. After 33 years of service with the General Telephone Company, he retired and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul in Lake Mills. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Katie, daughters; Jane (Dan) Shureb of Sarasota, FL and Mary Rogers of Marshall, brother Jeff Hilts of Black River Falls, two granddaughters; Gina (Cory) Boya of Bradenton, FL, Sarah Nowicki of Oakland, CA and many other relatives and friends. Maurice is a preceded in death by his parents, son Brian Rogers and sister Bernadine Rogers. Maurice was a participant in the Brain Builders Program at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. His contributions will help further the study of Alzheimer's research.
