Marion Grace Stuntebeck, age nearly 102, passed away quietly on Tuesday, November 8, 2017, at the Columbus Health and Rehab Facility in Columbus. Marion, the eldest of 5 children, was born November 29, 1915, to Ervin and Christina (George) Haberman on a farm near Sun Prairie, WI. Two years later the family moved to a farm near Lake Mills, where she grew up with her siblings. As a child, she enjoyed working outside and helping her father with farm chores. She also enjoyed school despite the necessary 6 mile walk to and from Lake Mills during her Freshman year. During the winter months her father took her to school by horse and sleigh, then she boarded with relatives until the weekend. Marion graduated from Lake Mills High School at the age of sixteen. While still 16 years old, she met Frank Stuntebeck. (She liked to say that she fell in love with his beautiful wavy hair.) They were married on Sept. 11, 1937. Together they farmed until the later years when she supplemented their income with a variety of jobs including the Sears Deli, the Dime Store in Sun Prairie/Waterloo and the Waterloo Canning Factory. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality for decades. Among her many favorites in life were her grandchildren, playing cards, square dancing, violin and accordion music, the song "Red Wing," flowers, the color red and "Old Glory." After retiring from farming, Marion and Frank enjoyed traveling, taking in a 6 country European tour and venturing to Australia to attend the wedding of their son Richard. They also spent 17 winters in Weslaco, Texas, eager to escape the Wisconsin winters. Marion is survived by her children; Ervin of Marshall, Richard (Janice) of Sparta, David (Loretta) of Marshall, Mary Ann (Don) Voigt of Beaver Dam and well as being blessed with 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband Frank, her parents, and her siblings Bernadette Skalitzky, Angela Gmeinder, Gerald Haberman and Doris Dorshorst. The visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Marshall with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow.
