Julia Ann Theobald Myers, 82, went home to be with God and loved ones June 2, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was at home, surrounded by her husband and her five children.
Julie was born on January 4, 1941, the daughter of Lilian and Robert Theobald, and shared the same birth date as her father. She grew up near Barneveld, WI, where her family farmed. She later moved to Marshall, WI where she graduated from high school in 1959. In 1962, Julie met her husband of nearly 60 years, Daniel B. Myers at Three Bells in Madison, WI. In September 1963, Dan and Julie were married at the Marshall Methodist church.
Dan and Julie raised their five children at their home on Porter St. in Marshall. Their home overflowed with love, and quickly became a gathering place with children playing, family and friends visiting, and celebrations with live music in the yard and under the large, covered porch. Julie loved to entertain and make people smile. Later, Dan and Julie moved across town to Meadowbrook Ct. where the celebrations continued, including new friends, neighbors, and their growing family.
Julie was a dedicated stay-at-home mother, while also babysitting many kids from Marshall, waitressing, and providing support services for her brother-in-law Gene’s carpet cleaning business. As her children grew, Julie accepted a job at Walmart as the shoe department manager, earning the nickname “The Shoe Lady”. She retired from Walmart after a long and dedicated career.
As an active member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, Julie volunteered for nearly 60 years showing love and support for others and was a committed Christian and lived the word of God, Love.
She took great pride in her hobbies including gardening, her flowers, seasonally decorating her home, baking lots of cookies, and was world famous for her banana bread. She loved to sing, dance, yodel, and socialize in her she-shed.
Her greatest passion in life was her family, being a grandma, and a great grandma. Julie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was often referred to as a second mom and grandma to others, and warmly welcomed them as if they were her own. Julie had an incredible gift to chat, laugh, and give. She was a champion at sarcasm, and loved those that came into her life fiercely! She always said in her own words, "Love you more".
Julie is survived by: her husband Dan; children Pamela Johnson, Peggy Myers, Daniel (Cheryl) Myers Jr., Thomas (Paula) Myers, Timothy (Lisa) Myers; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Dick (Marion) Theobald, Nancy (Larry) Martin, Dixie (Gene) Haefner, Janice Laufenberg, Connie (Manfred) Jeschke, and Bobby (Marcia) Theobald. Julie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol (Alster) Jelle, and nephews Mark Haefner and Joe Anderson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Marshall United Methodist Church in Marshall with Rev. Marty Stanton presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Julie’s name to Marshall United Methodist Church would be appreciated by the family.
