John Taylor

May 30, 1928 — April 12, 2014

John H. "Johnski" Taylor, age 85 of Watertown passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Heritage Homes Memory Care in Watertown while under the care of Rainbow Hospice. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home at 6:00 pm with Reverend Rodney Warnecke of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Relatives and friends may gather to pay their respects at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Memorials in John's name may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Heritage Homes Memory Care or to Rainbow Hospice. John was born in Henderson Kentucky on May 30, 1928, the son of Dr. John and Lucille (Stevens) Taylor. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 2, 1949 he married Lois Ebert at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Lois preceded him in death on April 11, 1996. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was employed at Hein-Werner in Waukesha as a machinist up until his retirement. He also was an assistant manager of maintenance and painting at a Watertown apartment complex. Survivors include three daughters, Sandy (Ron) Lenz, Jan Taylor and Judi Romprey; son, John Taylor of Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren, Deb Lenz, Ryan Lenz, Breanne Larsen, Samantha Romprey, Sydney Romprey and Jessica Taylor; two great-granddaughters, Chloe Lenz and Adelynn Lenz; step-grandson, Harry Dewey; sisters-in-law, Karen (George) Oestriech, Beverly Ebert and Elaine Ebert; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Stibb; step-father, Ewald Timm and a grandson. He was further preceded by brothers-in-law, Richard Ebert and Robert Ebert. The family would like to thank everyone at Heritage Homes Memory Care, Rainbow Hospice, Dr. Moe Chin and Dr. Terry Turke for the compassionate care of our father, "pops". John was the life of the party. He loved having fun and making people laugh. He also had a quick wit. John will be deeply missed.
