John Frei

John Gustav Frei, 92, of Hartland and Watertown, passed away July 26, 2017at Hartland Place in Hartland. John was born July 14, 1925 to John, Jr. and Martha in Chicago.  He attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago. John continued to enjoy reading and learning his entire life.  In later years, he took courses on DVD. John was also a great music enthusiast with a particular love for the Glen Miller Band John worked for the American Electronics Co. in Chicago until Uncle Sam called him into service on May, 1944. John joined the Navy and was sent to fight in the South Pacific. He was released from his tour of duty in June of '46. On November 28, 1959 he married his love, Sally Rose Schaudt, in Pell Lake WI. They were blessed with a daughter, Valentina (Tina).  John was a devoted husband and father.   John is survived by his daughter Valentina (Shane) Wagner, sisters; Virginia Voigt, Carol Stickney, sister-in-law Pam Frei, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, many other relative and friends. John was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Frei, brother Daniel Frei, 4 brother-in-laws; Harry Schaudt, Ben Szweda, Donald Getka, Walter Voigt, sister-in-law Jean Schaudt, and 2 nephews; James Frei and Peter Schaudt. Schmutzler Vick Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 500 Welsh Road, Watertown, Wisconsin is serving the family.
