James “Jim” M. Hunter, 80, of Watertown, originally from West Allis passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc with his family by his side.
Jim was born on May 24, 1940 in West Allis, the son of David and Marie (Cosgrove) Hunter. He married the love of his life Ilka Auersch on August 31, 1963 in Milwaukee, and the couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. In his younger years he and his friend started the WABB Rod and Reel Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Ilka, children: Lori Paoletti; Jim (Joanna) Hunter; and John (Lou) Hunter. 4 grandchildren: A.J. (Alex); Natalie; Katie; and Bradley. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Aria; Rylee; and Tahlia. Brother Patrick (Sandi) Hunter and sister Diana Morisseau. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Bezanson presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
