Hugh Greathouse

GREATHOUSE, HUGH W. "PETE" MADISON/WATERTOWN Hugh W. "Pete" Greathouse, age 85, passed away on Thursday January 24, 2013. Hugh was born on February 9, 1927 in Indianapolis, the son of Hugh W. and Margaret J. (Blessing) Greathouse. He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1951 and attained the rank of Corporal. He graduated from UW Milwaukee in 1953. On August 20, 1955 he married the former Arleen Erickson in Waupun. Hugh had been an art teacher in Kewaskum, Waupun and Watertown High School and he retired in 1986. He had been a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife Arleen, their children David A. (Barbara) Greathouse of Sun Prairie and Heidi M. (Donald) Schade of Weyauwega, two grandchildren Nicole and Donnie, a brother George Greathouse of New Albany, Indiana and a sister Carol (William) Duff of North Carolina, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jacob and Allen Greathouse. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1 PM at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor John Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 11 AM to 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee would be appreciated. Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
