Beyond his military endeavors, Gordon was deeply rooted in his faith and community. He was a very active longtime member of St. Henry's Catholic church and school, where his spirit of kindness and compassion touched the lives of many. Additionally, he held the distinction of being the longest-serving member of the Watertown American Legion for over 75 years, embodying the values of camaraderie and service.
Among Gordon's proudest accomplishments was being the heart and soul of his family - often referred to as the "Glue" that held everyone together. His love and support were unwavering, providing a foundation for his loved ones to thrive.
Gordon is survived by his sons: Joseph (Christy) Checki, John (Jane Sweeney) Checki, Jeffry (Ginger) Checki; daughter Jeannine (Robert) Wolf; grandchildren: Tony (Jen), Matthew, Megan (Ryan), Jennifer (Brock), Krista (Matt), Stephanie (Kyle), Angie (Marc), JJ (Kelly), Brittany, Samantha (Jordan), and Nicholas; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Marquardt Rehab and Rainbow Hospice for the care and compassion given to Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gordon's honor to Watertown Catholic School would be appreciated.
