Gerald D. Hanson

Gerald “Jerry” Dean Hanson, 66 of Watertown, WI passed away unexpectedly on October 22^nd, 2023.

Jerry was born on April 22, 1957, to Charles and Laura Hanson in Waukesha, WI.  He grew up in the Waukesha area and was 1 of 9 children. 

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army. After receiving his diploma from the State of WI in 1985, he further went on to complete a degree in Office Equipment Repair from Waukesha Technical Institute in 1987.

Prior to completing his degrees, Jerry met and married and went on to have a family of 3.  They traveled the US while Jerry continued his career.

His favorite activities included fishing and hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid lover of music and played the Guitar.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Laura Hanson as well as siblings, Rose Sorcic, Kathy Croce and Charlie Hanson. 

He is survived by his siblings Merve Hanson, David (Sally) Hanson, Mike (Cheryl) Hanson, Renee (Steve) Weide and Rick (Adriane) Hanson.  His former spouse Nancy Schmitz and children Amy (Adam) Leisten, Joshua Hanson, Melinda Hanson.  Grandchildren: Christian Hanson, Morrison Tussey, Grace Hanson and Athena Moreno and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his current partner Teri Giering with whom he spent his final happy days.  Jerry will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be held at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown, WI on October 28^th, 2023. Services will consist of an Open House from 10:00 AM and will conclude with Military Honors at 1:00 PM followed by a time of sharing given by his surviving children. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be given toward the collective college scholarship fund of Jerry’s Grandchildren.
