Gene N. Asmann, 64, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
Gene was born on January 12, 1961, in Burlington, WI, the son of Leonard and Ruth (Zerniki) Asmann. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. He married the love of his life Wendy Shaw on August 9, 1986, at Yorkville Methodist Church and the couple enjoyed 38 years of marriage. Gene worked as a Veterans Service Deputy Officer with Jefferson County for many years. He was a member of the Watertown American Legion Post 189. In his free time, he enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and tinkering with computers. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.
Gene is survived by his wife Wendy, children Renee (Matt) Mattson and Nicholas Asmann, granddaughter Layla Mattson, his mother Ruth, sister Denise (Roger) Tonyan, and brother Greg (Chris) Asmann. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Leonard, sister Debbie, and brother Gary.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home with Pastor Hilary Furnish presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 12:00pm until the time of service. Military honors will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation may do so to a no kill animal shelter or animal sanctuary.
