Gary Walter Broom passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek surrounded by family. Gary was born on February 7, 1953 to Walter and Sylvia Broom in Chippawa Falls, WI.

Gary grew up and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1971. After high school, he attended Technical College before settling into the Ixonia area and working locally in tool and die manufacturing until his retirement in 2015.

After high school, he married Shari (nee Rupnow) and had 3 children: Jenny, Beth, and Eric. Later in life, Gary re-married Elaine (nee Swanson) and welcomed another daughter, Laci.

Gary remained a resident of Ixonia until his death.

Gary was an avid hunter and motorcycle rider. He enjoyed these things up until that last few years of his life when a series of health conditions limited his ability to fully enjoy those hobbies.

Gary is proceeded in death by his father (Walter Broom), his first wife and mother to three of his children (Shari Sukow) and a beloved Uncle George. Gary leaves behind his mother Sylvia, his only brother Jeff Broom (Cheryl), his children Jenny (Chris), Elizabeth, Eric, and Laci and his grand-children Addison, Kelly and Erin Broom; Ava and Katelyn Triplett; and Cash Rennhack.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek for the care they provided Gary and his family during his final days.

Visitation for Gary will be on Monday, March 10th from 10-11 a.m. at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown, WI. A private family burial will take place immediately after.
