SCHMUTZLER, DONALD L. WATERTOWN Donald L. Schmutzler, age 86, passed away on Monday July 4, 2011 at Marquardt Memorial Manor. Funeral services will be on Friday July 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Marks Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Memorials to St. Marks Lutheran School, would be appreciated. Schmutzler was born on May 20, 1925 in Watertown, the son of Oscar E. Sr. and Meta Schmutzler. After graduating from Watertown High School, Don joined the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. In July 1948, he married the former Loraine Riedeman. He attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. With his brothers, Don was a partner in Schmutzler Funeral Home and Schmutzler Furniture Co., for many years. Don was active in St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church, serving on the board, later as president and had also been a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf and was a long-time member of the Watertown Country Club. Don recorded a hole in one. Surviving are his wife Loraine; a son Dean (Mary) Schmutzler of Green Bay; two daughters Sandra (Robert) Benzel of Oconomowoc and Holly (Scott) Villwock of Palm Harbor, Florida; grandchildren Lynn (Matt) Rotter of Green Bay; Tracy (Tim) Kidd of Dubuque, IA; Stacy (Justin) Brown of San Diego, CA; Bridget Benzel of Port Washington; Brett Villwock and Chad Villwock, both of Florida; a great granddaughter Lily Rotter; a brother Robert (Donna) Schmutzler of Watertown and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister in law Oscar E. Jr. Hap and Kate Schmutzler.
