KAUFMANN, DONALD C. WATERTOWN/GERMANTOWN Donald C. Kaufmann, age 89, passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 at Ellen's Home-South in Germantown. A memorial service will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown, with Pastor John Kennedy officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the "Love Fund" of the church would be appreciated. Donald Carl Kaufmann was born on March 27, 1924 in Wauwatosa, the son of Karl and Jennie (Wood) Kaufmann. He served in the US Army from April 1943 to March 1946, during WWII, in the European and Pacific Theaters. On September 11, 1948 he married the former Patricia Treiber at the First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa, she preceded him in death on March 9, 2011. Don had been employed as a carpenter with several building contractors in the Milwaukee area and UW-Milwaukee. In 1986 he retired from UW and they moved to Watertown. He was a member of First Congregation United Church of Christ in Watertown. Don enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and playing golf and horseshoes. Survivors include his daughters Marjorie (Dennis) Idzikowski, Betsy (Jeff) Zotcavage and Barbara (David Riedl) Kaufmann, grandchildren Max (Erica) Idzikowski, David (Keri) Klein, Jennifer Klein, Mike (Jessie) Wirkus, Lynn (Tim) Gehrmann, Jessie (Scott) Parrau, Austin and Abby Riedl, great grandchildren Brandon, Faith, Lauren, Reilly, Benjamin, Luc and Evelyn, two sisters Margie Martinson and Birdie Zeller, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don is further preceded in death by a daughter Sally Wirkus, a granddaughter Grace, his parents and a sister Dorothy Miller. Don's family wishes to thank Dr. Carol Wood and the staff at Ellen's Home-South, for their support, dedication and compassion
