Don Zimmermann

Don E. Zimmerman age 92, passed away Tuesday August 17, 2010 at Marquardt Memorial Manor. He was born on April 27, 1918 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, son of the late Irvin and Mabel (Beneke) Zimmerman. He married Leona Schroeder on July 31, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa, she preceded him in death in October of 2005.Don served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #189 in Watertown. Don owned and operated the EC Zimmerman Insurance Agency in Watertown. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Watertown. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing softball, and he loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers.He will be deeply missed by his sons; Daron (Pat) Zimmermann of Oak Hill VA, Don A. (Betty) Zimmermann of Watertown, Jerold (Kris) Zimmermann of Phoenix AZ, James(Margaret Herd) Zimmermann of Sun Prairie. His 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Sister; Jane Kuhn of Watertown, and sister-in-law Judy Zimmermann of Livermore CA. many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.He is also preceded in death by his sisters; Marion Zimmermann, Vivian Strasberg, and Brother David Zimmermann.Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 21, 2010 at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown, with the Rev. John Kennedy officiating. Millitary Honors will follow the service. Interment will be in the First Congregational Churches memorial garden.Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
