Dean J. Peterman, age 79, of the Township of Clyman, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, having lost a nine-year battle with cancer which he fought with courage and grace. Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family. Dean was born on October 11, 1938, son to Louis and Mary Ann (Ketelsen) Peterman in the Township of Erin, located in Washington County, Wisconsin. After attending Hustisford High School, Dean served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1961. On February 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Schumacher at St. Stephan's UCC Church in Juneau. After 30 years of employment at Sensient, located in Juneau, Dean retired. In his retirement, he enjoyed going to breakfast at many area restaurants. Dean also enjoyed working the farm for 55 years that he, his wife and three sons put together. In addition, he operated the Peterman Game Farm for 22 years with his family. He enjoyed visits with hunters that came from all over the United States. Dean displayed the special patience required in training new dogs for hunting, which was treasured by many of the hunters. Helping his sons and their friends with their race cars and trucks, and attending their many races was Dean's top entertainment, be it Spring, Summer, Fall or Ice Racing in the Winter. Dean is survived by his wife Mary Lee, their three sons, Paul of Hustisford, Kurt (Laurie) of Juneau, and Kale (Joyce) of Iron Ridge. Additionally, Dean is survived by three grandsons, Andrew, Gavin and Kolten; one precious great-granddaughter, Riley Ann. He is also survived by his siblings; Betty Schmidt of Neosho, Florence Weisgerber, of Missouri, Colleen Uecker Nehls of Watertown, Arlene (Robert) Kuehl of Hustisford, Richard (Barbara) Peterman of Juneau and Linda (Robert) Fehrman of Juneau. Dean is further survived by his brother-in-law Lyle (Judy) Schumacher of Watertown and sisters-in-law; Barbara (William) Mullin of Fox Lake, Janet Schumacher of New York and many other relative and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Gene Peterman, Dorothy Peterman, Maxine Zimmerman, Ruby Klatt, sister-in-law, Gladys Peterman; brothers-in-law; Wilmer Schmidt, Daniel Zimmerman, Virgil Uecker, Palmer Nehls, Ned Klatt, a niece, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
