Cordell Blankenship

Marshall - Cordell "Dell" Blankenship, age 83 passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Columbus Hospital. Cordell known as just "Dell" was born in Franklin, TN to Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Blankenship along with one other son, Edgar. He attended the local grade school, then Battle Ground Academy; a private prep school for boys. Shortly after graduation Dell joined the Air Force where he served in Texas, Ohio, Wisconsin, 2 years on Okinawa and finally Kinross, Michigan. He was discharged in January of 1955. While in Michigan, Dell married Elizabeth Smith of Madison better known at "Pinky". They lived in Madison about 2 years, and then moved to Marshall where they had 2 sons. Like many those before him, Dell finally lost his battle with his cancer. A visitation will be held at HART-VICK FUNERAL HOME, 107 S. BEEBE ST., MARSHALL on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Dell will be buried next to his wife at Medina Cemetery at a later date. Dell is survived by his sons, Todd (Tracey) and Thomas (Beverly); grandchildren, Tyler, Claire, Maddie and Sam; brother, Edgar (Mary); other relatives and friends. "May they rest in Peace!"
