Christel Brell

Christel Maria Brell, age 77, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 surrounded by her children. How she died is not as important as how she lived. Christel was born to Irma and Gerhard Brell in Witten, Germany on September 2, 1940, amidst WWII. Following the war in 1954, she immigrated with her family to the United States. She attended Pius XI Catholic High School in Milwaukee, WI. Upon graduation she enrolled in nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. That was the start of her lifelong commitment to the care of others. In addition to serving as an LPN, she was a paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician and ultimately a Registered Nurse. He tenacity and perseverance are what allowed her to achieve those goals. The kindness, charity, and respect she gave to all she met are why was the only one you wanted at your bedside saying "I'm here, go to sleep". Wherever she went, Christel usually made a friend or two. She had an innate sense of joy and happiness that was infectious. She dedicated her life to helping others, in any way she could. This included giving people a meal to eat or a place to stay, and in some cases a place to live. Her home was always a comfortable place for friends to drop by for a chat, a meal and a cup of tea. Christel is survived by her children, Monique (Greg McConnell) Garbowicz, Sandra (Greg) David, Pamela (Jason) Bloomfield, grandchildren Jeremy Bloomfield (Jessica Bailey) and Taylor Bloomfield (Amanda Long), four great grandchildren, brother: Gary (Julie Bodds) Brell and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister; Hannelore Kraus, brothers; George Brell and Mark Brell. A celebration of life service will be held at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with a service to follow, the Reverend Ray Benzanson, officiating.
