Watertown - Carole Henrietta Sauer, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Heritage Homes in Watertown. Carole was born on October 4, 1931 in Newburg, WI, the daughter of Alex and Cecelia (Fischer) Casper. She was married to David Sauer on June 14, 1952. They lived in both Oconomowoc and Watertown, WI and enjoyed their friendships, employment and social outings in both communities. Carole was a preschool teacher for many years in the Oconomowoc School District. She always enjoyed working with children and was a very patient and kind person. Carole was a gifted artist her entire life. Even in her later years she enjoyed painting and crafts. She loved being outside and tending to her flower gardens. She also always enjoyed spending time with friends and family Carole is survived by her five children, Sarah Sauer of Hartland, Karl Sauer of Milwaukee, Christopher Sauer of McFarland, Tresa Knutson (Gary) of Wales and Rita Sauer-Hissom (Russell) of De Forest; her grandchildren Jessica (Andrew) Schilling, Cecelia and Paul (Meghan) Wisner, Kristin, Brooke (Benjamin) and Taylor Sauer, Chelsea (Jason) Indra and Rose and Rory Hissom; her great-grandchildren Ethan, Gabe, Cole and Jasper; her sister-in-law Annie Casper of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carole was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dave in 2008; her brothers Herman, Phillip (Janet) and Jack Casper and her sisters Bernice (Don) Odgers and Elaine Dille. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Homes (a ministry of The Lutheran Home Association) for their continuous loving care of Carole during the years she lived there. Additionally, they would like to thank Rainbow Hospice Care for the comfort and care they gave Carole in the last few weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers or remembrances, the family requests memorials be directed to The Lutheran Home Association, 337 South Meridan Street, Belle Plaine, MN 56011 in Carole's memory.
