Betty J. Schuett, 93, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born May 25, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Hoeffs) Maas. On September 22, 1951, Betty married Robert Schuett and spent 62 years together until his passing in 2014. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Watertown, and was a part of the St. Henry’s Catholic Women’s Club. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and watching Brewers or Packers games. She made a variety of beautiful crafts with yarn, and knitted mittens year-round to donate to local children. Betty was an extremely organized person who was known to keep all the manuals for her appliances, and be able to recall where they were on the spot. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her Christmas cookies were looked forward to and enjoyed by many. Betty was patient, kind, and quietly competitive when it came to family scrabble games. Selfless with her time, Betty spent countless hours volunteering for the Watertown Hospital Auxiliary and St. Vincent De Paul of Watertown. She had a witty sense of humor that made people laugh. Family meant the most to Betty as she treasured phone calls, emails, dinners, and all the time spent together with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those that she leaves behind.
Betty is survived by: her children Janet Schuett (Jack Graham), James (Katherin) Schuett, Thomas (Gayla) Schuett, and Susan Schuett; grandchildren Derek (Lindsey) Schuett, Kyle Schuett, Thomas L. (Jennifer) Schuett II, and Miranda Leigh (Brandon) Fitzpatrick; great-grandchildren Drew Schuett, Ryder Schuett, Ezra Lee Fitzpatrick, and one great-grandson on the way. Betty is also survived by a number of grandpets.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and her siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent De Paul of Watertown can be made if desired.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church of Watertown with Monsignor Mark Merdian presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Betty’s earthly body will be laid to rest at St. Henry’s Cemetery following the Mass.
