Arthur J. Risser, II, age 72, of Watertown, died Saturday morning, March 28, 2015, in his sleep. Arthur Jerel Risser, II was born in Hershey, PA on July 30, 1942, the son of Arthur J. and Pearl M (Brock) Risser. He was married to Mary Ann Welty on October 23, 1965 in Boonsboro, MD. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. His postgraduate education was begun at University of Alaska in Fairbanks and completed at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He belonged to and served on the boards of several churches, most recently at the Watertown United Church of Christ. Art was a 32nd Degree Mason with membership in both Scottish and York Rites. For many years he taught English as a Second Language in Dodge and Jefferson counties. As a member of the Watertown Airport Commission he served many years, most recently as Chairman. He was licensed as a Commercial and Instructor Pilot as well as an Amateur Radio (ham) operator. Arthur is survived by his favorite (and only) beloved wife, Mary Ann; much loved children Christina M Risser-Milne (Jessica) of East Hartford, CT and Susan R. Risser (George Niehaus) of Springfield, IL; doted upon granddaughter Lucile (Lucy) Risser-Milne; one sister, Deana J Rundel of Great Falls, VA; and three brothers, Keith B. Risser of Columbia, MD, Thomas A. Risser of Lincoln, MA, and J. Alexander Risser of Avon, NC; and, finally, many good friends with which he was blessed. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the funer al home.
