Arlene H. Stark, age 100 years 4 days, passed away on November 19, 2023, at Sienna Crest of Marshall.
Arlene was born on November 15, 1923, in Perry Township, Dane County, to Helmer and Olga (Oimoen) Grinder. She was baptized and confirmed in Perry Lutheran Church, Daleyville. Arlene was united in marriage to Arthur W. Stark on November 15, 1947 in Perry Lutheran Church, Daleyville, and celebrated 58 years together. Arthur preceded her in death on June 12, 2006. Arlene was employed at Dane County Title Company in Madison for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and their Lydian Society in Marshall. Art and Arlene enjoyed traveling on bus trips. She also bowled regularly for many years.
Arlene is survived by: her daughters Pat (Bill) Kreitzman of Watertown, Marilyn (Mike) Starczynski of Marshall; son-in-law Wil Follmer of Rhinelander; 9 grandchildren Chris Follmer, Dan (MariBeth) Follmer, Craig Gottschalk, Mark Gottschalk, Maria (Pat) Shelton, Ed (Nadege) Kreitzman, Maggie (Willie) Christensen, Mitchell (Taylor) Starczynski, and Marty Starczynski; and 10 great-grandchildren with 1 due in December. Arlene is survived by many nieces and nephews, and many friends she called her “daughters".
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Art, daughters Barb Gottschalk and Janice Follmer, and son-in-law Dennis Gottschalk.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on November 27, 2023, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 204 Deerfield Road, with Rev. Andrew Meyer presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Arlene’s earthly body will be laid to rest at Medina Cemetery of Marshall following the service.
Memorials in Arlene’s name to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
Mom, thank you for everything you taught us, for your prayers and for being our friend. Until we meet again, thanks for the memories.
