Althea Kuhl

KUHL, ALTHEA C. MARSHALL Althea C. Kuhl, age 89, passed away on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Columbus Community Hospital. Althea C. Zank was born on July 13, 1924 in Brunsville, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. Walter E. and Martha (AveLallemant) Zank. She was baptized by her father and confirmed by her father in 1938. The family moved to Newville in 1926 and Althea graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1946. Althea attended Northwestern College in Watertown from 1942 - 46. She taught school in West Salem, WI and at Atonement Lutheran School in Milwaukee. She later worked in Dr. Lindelow's dental office. On October 19, 1952 she married Robert M. Kuhl at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newville, by her father. Althea helped on the farm until their retirement. Althea was a member of St Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Marshall where she was active in the Lydian Society. She was also active in the St. John's Ladies Aide in Newville, Lakeside Ladies Guild, Twice As Nice Resale Shop, LWMS and the WELS counseling Center Clinic in Madison. Althea enjoyed family reunions, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her survivors include her husband Robert; daughter Suzanne (Jim) Renz, son Andrew (Sue) Kuhl; 7 grandchildren Melanie (Jon) Fitzner, Greg Renz, Ruth (Danny) Fredenberg, Eric Renz, Rachel (Dave) Cheyne, Ben Renz and Rebecca Kuhl; 3 great Grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; a brother Marvin (JoAnne) Zank, a brother in law Hilmer Abel; 2 sisters in law Rosalyn Zank and Jenny Kiesow and a sister in law and brother in law Linda (Bernard) Tangney. She is also survived by other relatives and friends. Althea is preceded in death by her parents a brother Ronald Zank and a sister Ruth Abal. Funeral services will be on Monday June 30, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Schoeneck officiating. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday June 29, 2014 from 3 PM to 7 PM at the church and on Monday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the church.
