Albert Riege

RIEGE, ALBERT F. COTTAGE GROVE/SUN PRAIRIE Albert F. Riege, age 100, passed away on Saturday November 30, 2013. Albert Fred Riege was born on June 7, 1913 in Portland, Wisconsin, the son of Paul and Hulda (Hahn) Riege. Albert was baptized on August 13, 1913 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Marshall, where he was also confirmed. On October 21, 1949, he married the former Grace Knapton at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshall. At the age of 2 1/2, Albert's moved to a farm in the Town of Sun Prairie where he remained the rest of his life. He took over the family farm in 1950 with his brother Frederick and in 1985, Fred retired and Albert continued to farm alone. He was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Marshall. Albert is survived by his wife Grace, a brother Bert (Margory) Riege of Deerfield, he is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Albert is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Frederick Riege and two sisters Bertha Hamburg and Gertrude Knapton. Funeral services will be on Wednesday December 4, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Marshall with Pastor Mark Schoeneck officiating. Burial will be in Krogville Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the church. Online condolences may be left at svfuneralhome.com. Hart-Vick Funeral Home of Marshall is serving the family.
